Empowering Communities: The Impact of Transition Together Funding for Food-Growing Initiatives in Reading

Incredible Edible Reading (IER) is excited to announce that we have been awarded funding for community food-growing initiatives in Reading. The project is kindly supported by the National Lottery Community Fund and distributed by Transition Together.

We'll be working in partnership with community-food growing advocates in Englefield Green to expand the implementation of the Incredible Edible concept across the Thames Valley region. This funding provides essential support for IER and follows earlier successful Transition Together funding made possible by the kind endorsement of IER's vision and engagement project by Transition Town Reading.

We'll also be scaling up the reach and impact of our community food-growing interventions around two core themes:

💚 Connecting with and learning from each other and sharing knowledge

💚 Community engagement using both in-person and digital approaches

Our project will aim to develop relationships with food growers and producers in Reading and beyond and to develop actions to influence local policy makers. We aim to get food-growing into local health and wellbeing and climate-action plans, specifically around emerging Right to Grow strategies in each location while sharing the benefits of these policy interventions with all. More spaces and ideas to get Reading growing and create the edible landscape that sits at the heart of the IER mission will emerge through the course of this project, as well as advice on what small actions we can all take.

We are hugely grateful for this opportunity to connect with a wider range of participants in Reading and to collaborate under the Transition Together framework. For more details about how you can get involved in developing a sustainable programme of activities to share with all during and after the project contact us: hello@incredibleedibleredg.org. 🥕
